Focus On . . . Tobacco-Free Living

Tobacco-related illness is the number one cause of preventable death in New Mexico. CINCH aims to help residents of Bernalillo County live healthy lives free from tobacco. Living tobacco free means avoiding the use of all types of tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, and hookahs, as well as living free from secondhand smoke exposure.

CINCH Initiative: Smoke-Free Housing

In partnership with community organizations, CINCH works to increase the availability of smoke free multi-unit housing in Albuquerque’s International District by raising awareness of the effects of exposure to secondhand smoke.

CINCH Initiative: Reducing Tobacco Sales to Minors

CINCH works with community members to reduce youth access to tobacco by educating merchants about the penalties associated with selling tobacco to minors, and empowering youth and adult community members to identify and report merchants in violation of New Mexico law.
